[/b] eliza![/blockquote]Brody was exhausted - physically and mentally. Senior year was tiring. It was stressful. Especially for Brody. While everyone else at school was worrying about applying to colleges and getting good SAT scores, Brody was stressing about how he could possibly find the time to go to college while raising Ella, or how he could even afford it. He was worrying more about how he would ever be able to support Ella well enough of a crappy full time job. The eighteen year old just wanted to be able to give his daughter the best life possible. The key was figuring out how he could pull together the money to take college courses, while still paying for Ella's daycare, plus all the extra expenses. Because of this, Brody had been exhausting himself, taking as many hours at his job he could while trying to keep up with his school work and spending time with his daughter. The boy was stretching himself thin. It was easy to see why he was exhausted.
The student lounge hadn't been a place that Brody had spent a whole lot of time in the last four years. He was a day school student, he got to Stewart in time for first period and he was gone shortly after the final bell. However, over the past few weeks, Brody had found himself in the old lounge quite a bit. It was the glory of a free period. Most days, the boy would come in, set the alarm on his cell phone and sleep through his free period. Other times... he forgot to set his alarm on his cell phone and slept through a couple periods. The naps always did him good. At night he was lucky if he was able to catch more than four hours of sleep. After work and putting Ella down to bed, he still had a mountain of homework to work through and most nights he was up until two or three o'clock in the morning working on it. Being a single father in high school sure did knock the shit out of you.
As per usual, when his free period came around, Brody was pulling the door to the lounge open and stepping inside. Lucky for him, most seniors opted to spend their free period in the library, catching up on homework. No one bothered him in the lounge because it was usually deserted. And when it wasn't, they still left him alone. It was a pretty well known fact with his class that he had a kid at home. Most people were cool with him, understood why he would be sleeping on a couch at school. And the ones who didn't... well, Brody didn't really give a shit about.
Yawning, the tall boy plopped himself down on the nearest couch, pulling out his cell phone and setting the alarm - he had a math test today he couldn't sleep through - before laying down and stretching himself out. He was more than ready to catch a couple of much needed Z's.tagged ,
